“They’ve had to be everything. Not just law enforcers, but social workers and drug counselors, trying to hook everybody up with resources,” Morber said. “These poor young officers have done more death notifications in their short time span in 10 years than I have done my whole career.”
When the artist bought this land with his wife, Pilar Belzunce, in the early 1980s, he fulfilled his long-held dream of finding a permanent, natural environment for his works. It eventually opened as Chillida Leku, a museum that would allow the public to wander among his sculptures as they would trees in a forest. But Chillida died in 2002, and by 2011 his family found they could no longer afford to keep the museum open.
What did she like about him? “He was definitely an interesting character. He was listening to quite heavy music; he had earrings and sunglasses. I was attracted to the strangeness of him, maybe.” She laughs. “I guess he looked different.” Valente says he was “really nervous, because I had to go to my school and I was late, but I saw Isla and I thought: ‘Oh wow, she’s beautiful. School can wait, no problem.'” He was delighted she spoke Spanish, although he assumed she was a tourist and would be leaving in a week or so. Did he plan to see her again? “I thought: ‘I need to say something. I need to ask her name and her number.'”
El Peine del Viento Facebook Twitter Pinterest Chillida’s Peine del viento at La Concha beach, San SebastiánWith this free public monument at the western tip of La Concha beach, Chillida truly made his imprint on San Sebastián. Three 11-ton steel sculptures are built into rocks jutting out of the coastline, with waves crashing against them on windy days. The work epitomises Chillida’s belief in nature’s ability to connect everyone and everything and, fittingly, a stream of water is said to flow from this part of the coast all the way inland to Chillida Leku.
Sellafield sits near Whitehaven on the West Cumbrian coast, cleaved in two by the river Calder. It is extremely congested – to the extent that more and more car parks are being shifted off-site to make space – and has no scope for expansion.
Isla got to her school and told her friend about the man she had met. “I felt it was something out of the ordinary. I wasn’t looking for anything. I had just come out of a long relationship, but it just sort of happened.”

After that point, visits could only be made via private appointment with the family; an unsustainable model that did no justice to what the artist had envisaged for the place. “I refused to accept that all the effort and dedication of my parents would be for nothing. There had to be a solution,” says Luis.
Without knowing what’s typical for descargar loba negra you, it’s hard to know whether your numbers are concerning. While 95% to 100% is normal for most healthy people, Dagan points out that someone with chronic lung disease may be at 92% “on a good day”. Ungerleider suggests calling your doctor “if the number is downtrending over time and falls to 92% or lower, especially if you are exhibiting other respiratory symptoms”.
The need for the mobile morgue laid bare the devastating extent of the crisis. The trailers were originally intended for a mass-fatality event, such as a natural disaster, plane crash or terrorist attack.
Additionally, the reading isn’t particularly useful on its own. “It can’t replace a visit or call with the doctor who can assess all of your symptoms and how they relate to any underlying medical conditions you have,” explains Stephen Parodi, infectious disease physician and associate executive director of the Northern California Permanente Medical Group.
“You can get a call someone has overdosed and you get there, you can bring them back with Narcan [an overdose antidote]. Then you’ll go to the same address in the afternoon,” Tucker said. “Or you go to that address in the morning and the two parents have overdosed and there’s a child there. It’s just horrible. It really is.”
This is the final shear at Sellafield’s thermal oxide reprocessing plant (Thorp), which has halted operations after 24 years it has spent reprocessing more than 9,000 tonnes of fuel from nuclear plants in the UK, Germany and Japan.
An eight-metre monolithic sculpture of reddish steel stands before me in the middle of a hilly field. Solid and grounded, the structure’s 22 tons contrast with the upward-reaching movement of its lines. As it soars towards the sky, the whole thing speaks of time and space in epic proportions.
“Any of this money that goes towards awareness to me is a joke. We’re all aware of what’s going on. Our medical examiner had to bring in refrigerated trucks because the bodies were piling up. We’re constantly aware of this problem. We need to focus, use that money to focus on treatment.”
